Training

Equip Ourselves for Cycling!

5th training

Date: April 23rd, 2019

Route: Tai Shui Hang -> Tai Mei Tuk-> Tai Shui Hang

Total Distance: 40 km

This is the 5th day. The temperature today is quite high, sunlight covers us all along the route.

This time we went to another new position-Tai Mei Tuk,  we went to the viewing deck and dam. We took photos on the dam.

This training may be the most hard-core one until that day, after training all members felt tired. This time we realize the upper limit of our team, the experience helps us reorganize our training plan.

We are continuing to build up our strength and endurance.  Keep on going.

6th training

Date: April 28th, 2019

Route: Tai Shui Hang -> Twin Bridge -> Hong Kong Science Park -> Tai Wong Ye Temple -> Tai Shui Hang

Total Distance: 22.2km

This is the 6th training day.  The weather today is nice not too hot. But only a few people come to join this training.

There is a new member first time to join our training so we spend some time to practice the fundamental bicycle skills. Because only a few people join this training, we formed 4 groups. There are 2 people in a group, the stronger one takes care of his/her groupmate. We give some of us a chance to be the leader of the team while we are cycling. This is a great experience that being the first one.

This is the last training before our final examination.  After it, we will spend more time on training to make sure we are strong enough to face the challenge in Scotland and Taiwan.

4th training

Date: April 14th, 2019

This is the 4th training day. Since we already learned the basic cycling skills in previous training. The purpose of today’s training is to apply what we have learned. The weather of today is good but there is light rain nearly the end of the training. It likes a little chance for us to try to cope with the changing of the weather.

Although we have learned the basic cycling skills, we still need to practice these skill in order to consolidate it. During the training, training leader points out our mistakes then we recognize it and correct it. Also, we try to use a whistle to give the signal to other teammates.

There are some differences in this time compare with previous training. The first change is we change another person to be the head of the bicycle team. Each teammate has a chance to become the first one of the team so we are responsible to learn how to be the first one. This is an important person in the team because when we are cycling, we have to follow him/her. The second change is we try to use a whistle to provide some signals to our teammates.

Date: March 24th, 2019

Route: Tai Shui Hang -> Tai Wai -> Tai Shui Hang -> Tai Wong Ye

   Temple -> Tai Shui Hang

Total Distance: 31.7km

This is the day of our first training. We did some warm-up exercises to get us well prepared. Then, we learned a few cycling gestures and hoe to start, stop bikes in proper manners.

After all this, we began our cycling to practice our skills along the bike park. We engaged with each other to establish a more efficient, effective communication.

When cycling was finished, we got together doing some post-training exercises to protect our muscles.

This is the first milestone of our journey, we started to get familiar with each other and learned how to behave like a good team. Along the way, our team is getting better and better.

3rd training

Date: April 7th, 2019

Route: Tai Shui Hang -> Tai Wai -> Tai Shui Hang ->

Tai Wong Ye Temple -> Tai Shui Hang

Total Distance: 31.7km

This is the day of our third training. The hot wind is in the air.

Since there are some new members to join in, so we had reorganized the teamwork by assigning responsibilities.

After doing the warm-up exercises we started cycling. Along the way, some of our members had crashed but this is not a big deal. With hard works, the new birds are going to fly.

2nd training

Date: March 31th, 2019

Route: Tai Shui Hang -> Tai Wai -> Tai Shui Hang ->

TaiPo Industrial Estate No.2 King Street -> Tai Shui Hang

Total Distance: 34.9km

The day was windy and cloudy again. Just like the first training day, it had the best weather for biking.

It was the day of our second training. Doing warm-up exercises, being well prepared, it was the same as the first training. cycling gestures and how to start, stop bikes in proper manners were introduced to the groupmates who join in the training for the first time.

After that, we began our cycling to practice our skills and the art of team-work in a new route. Comparing with the first time, the promotion is obvious but we still have some problems in keeping velocity stable.

This is the second milestone of our journey but, it is a little bit sad because some members in our team were busy or they maybe have some other reasons in this weekend, only ten groupmates presented in the training. Anyway, it’s fantastic training.
